If you’re looking for an excuse to get a good pillow, keep reading! And unfortunately, if a neck pillow has been on your mind, that means you might be experiencing some neck pain and/or headaches.
Dr. Liselott Persson, MD, of the department of neurosurgery at the University of Lund in Sweden did a study on how a neck pillow affects neck pain, headaches, and sleep quality and which was the best pillow. This result? A softer pillow with good support under the neck’s curve (lordosis).
The study recommends when searching for a pillow take into consideration the length and width of your neck. For example, you will need a larger “hump” for your neck if it’s longer so your head can appropriately be cradled. And then you need to consider types such as memory foam, water, or air-filled.
